This part you might think you’re doing wrong at first. Adjust the timeline bar at the top so that it is in line with the end of your GIF. Just drag the folder of the PSD and drop it on your GIF.ġ6. **IMPORTANT: Make sure the timing knob (I’m not sure what you call it) is to the far left (the beginning) of your GIF.**ġ5. …but adjust the radius and sharpness until you achieve the look you are going for.ġ4. I usually put my edges settings around these specs for GIFs: With your smart layer selected, go to Filter > Topaz Labs > Topaz Clean 3… (or whatever version it says).ġ3. If you’re not familiar with how to use Topaz Clean, here is a tutorial. Now that your GIF is the appropriate size, it’s time to apply the Topaz filter. If that’s the case, use the crop tool, put in your dimensions, and double click inside the image to crop it to the size you want.ġ2. There are three different ways to do this. You’re going to need to crop and/or resize your GIF. This step is different according to how you want your GIF to look. Select all of the layers you have left, which should all have the eye next to them, and go to Filter > Convert for Smart Filters.ġ0. **Note: If you skip this step, when you try to resize or crop your GIF it will take ages.**ĩ. Do the same shift + click method as before but by scrolling up or down this time, and drag the selected layers to the trash bin below the layers panel. Delete any layers that do not have the eye to the left of them. To do this, select the frames to the left first (using the same shift + click method as before) and drag them to the little trash bin below the timeline. ![]() When you find the frames you want to use (you should probably choose between 10 and 20 for the highest quality) delete the remaining frames from the left and right of all of the frames you want included in the GIF. Press the play button at the bottom left of all the frames. Now you need to figure out what section of the video you want to make the GIF. You can go ahead and select 0.1 seconds if you think that’s the speed you want or you can go to Other… and put in any number. When they are all selected, press the drop-down arrow next to where it says _ sec. To do this, make sure the frame furthest to the left is selected, then scroll all the way to the right and shift + click the very last frame. Usually something around 0.1 to 0.15 works well. Below the video, below the grey line that says where you are in the video, adjust the black brackets to around the section you want to make the GIF of. Make sure “Selected Range Only” is selected and check Limit To Every _ Frames and if there’s not already, put a 2 in there. It may take a minute to “initialize the video import” or something. Go to File > Import > Video Frames to Layers… and choose the video you downloaded.ģ. Pick out your video, make sure it’s HD, and use to download it.Ģ.
